Banners

Banners are a very cost-effective way to advertise your business. Whether you are promoting your grand opening, a big sale, or featured merchandise, a banner can get the message out with a bang. The key is in knowing how to position your banners to make the most efficient and effective use of them.

Banners can be displayed inside or outside your business. On the outside, they can easily be displayed on the side of the building in order to attract the attention of passersby. This is great, especially if you are in a location near a busy street or highway.

Inside the store, banners can be hung in the windows in order to attract the attention of people who are walking by or driving down the street in front of the business. These banners are a great way to advertise to the public.

Banners are an effective way to send a message to shoppers in side the store as well. Hanging banners on the walls in the store might not be practical so the best method in the store is to suspend them from the ceiling. This way they can be easily viewed by customers without interfering with the merchandise.

Banner design is at least as important as where you place them. You have to consider the use of graphics, font, colors, white space and margins, and the viewing distance and the amount of time passersby will have to scan or read the sign.

Great graphics are an important part of the banner and can help get the message across. The important thing to remember is that you do not want the graphics to overshadow or overpower the text portion of the banner. If this happens, the viewer can get caught up in looking at the great graphics and miss the message entirely.

When it comes to the fonts, do not use more than two on a banner. There are certain fonts that are best viewed at a distance, such as Helvetica and Futura. Make the font fit the business (i.e. fancy script for a bridal shop) and avoid using all upper case letters. Remember to make the font large enough if you are expecting to reach drivers. They are reading from a distance and have about 1.5-3 seconds to get the message. You will want the font to be visible at the desired distance.

When it comes to choosing color combinations, make sure that there is a high contrast between the font and the background for easiest readability. These can also be viewed at greater distances. Be sure to consider the type of business when choosing your color scheme as well.

Finally, you need to consider your use of margins and white space. The top and bottom margins should be 10% of the total height of the banner and the left and right margins should be as wide as one letter of the text. Avoid the temptation to fill empty spaces around the text as this white space brings the reader’s attention to the text itself.

Using banners is a very good way to promote your business. However, if people can’t read them or they are not attractive to the eye, then the message is lost and money is wasted. Be sure your banners are readable and in a position that is visible and you will see results..
